We recently came across the Census Reporter website, which has been designed for reporters to get key facts from the US census to use in their articles.
We like the way that it shows you a profile of the area you have selected. It also lets you map the specific census datasets.
The application is open source and available on GitHub.
Code for South Africa have taken the original application and altered it for use with the South African Census and also Election data, they’ve copied the original version in GitHub and made their own called Wazimap, altering the application to make it easier for others to reuse.
There are now 2 versions of Wazimap, the original South African and now a version for Kenya.
What do you think about this application? We’re interested in your views, so please comment if you have anything to add.
